HAFIZABAD: A woman, who had been allegedly burnt by her in-laws, succumbed to her wounds on Wednesday at Mayo Hospital.
An FIR was registered against the mother-in-law and sister-in-law under Section 302/34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
According to family members of the victim named Sobia, she was burnt after her in-laws, including her sister-in-law and mother-in-law, splashed petrol on her and set her on fire.
Sobia sustained critical wounds and was taken to the burns ward of the Mayo Hospital in Lahore where she was under treatment for the last three days. On Wednesday, she succumbed to her injuries.
SHO Ali Akbar disclosed that Sobia’s sister-in-law and mother-in-law had been arrested after the FIR was lodged and further interrogation was being conducted.
